It used to be that nearly every new home that was built included carpeting. American homes have always featured wall-to-wall carpeting as it was considered luxurious, warm and welcoming. Today however, most new homes feature stunning wooden flooring as people have discovered that wooden floors are not only beautiful, but they are easy to care for and offer a sense of style that carpeting simply does not.

Solid wood flooring is a type of floor that is guaranteed to last for generations. As the years pass and the floor wears, it only requires some sanding and a new layer of protective surface coating to revive it.

Another type of wood floor that is gaining in popularity is engineered wood flooring. Engineered wood floors are cheaper than solid wood floors and easier to install. It features a thin layer of wood on top of a plywood base. Although engineered floors do not last for generations, they are convenient and offer the same sense of style the solids offer.

Wooden floors are found in today’s most modern and beautiful homes. Often times wooden flooring is paired with glass mosaic tiles in kitchens. This gives the room a contemporary and dramatic look that is very welcoming.
