In these dire times economically, it might be a good idea to think of the children. It seems only natural that they learn a few things about money and earning their own rewards when they are at a fairly young age. When I was growing up, my parents instilled a healthy and good set of morals that revolved around how hard work goes a long way towards whatever you are trying to find in life. This can be done at a very early age.
This sounds a little on the cliché side, but it is always a good idea to make your kids start a business like a lemonade stand or any little business that will make them work for their money. You can help them with some banners printing and you can set up a stand for them and watch them from afar so they do not get treated badly.
Also, letting them earn a little money by washing the dishes and taking out the trash will give them the sense that not everything will be given to them. Investing in your children by printing out a few PVC banners will pay off in the future when they become functioning adults. After making a few dollars from lemonade, they will be happy to do more work for more rewards.
